A Voice For The Innocent

1 out of 10 dogs finds a forever home…how can we save the homeless?

A Voice

So I’ve been thinking a lot lately about everything. Sometimes I just get so frustrated I don’t know what to do. I know I don’t have a lot of readers or very many interested people, which is fine. I figure if I can get the point across to one person and that one person can make a point to another then the circle continues and people will understand. Everytime I hear something with an animal my hearts breaks a little bit more. The sad part is that people just don’t get it. Yes I know you can say, well what about the children, what about the economy, what about this and that? Well I do care about the children, I am a survivor of domestic violence, I am an advocate for abused women, but I feel more drawn to animals because animals don’t have a voice. They can’t speak for themselves. They can’t tell you what they’ve been through or what’s happening to them. They need all the help they can get.

I don’t feel that animals are disposable beings just being tossed practically in the garbage when you think about it. I know that we as a society can’t save all of them, but everyone that is saved really does count. I see so many bulletins and so many pleas everyday it’s hard to focus. Then I see things on the news that I just can’t wrap my thoughts around.

Someone pointed out this article to me and I just can’t see how someone could do this. Check it out: http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080125/lf_afp/uspropertyfinanceanimals

So after reading this I still don’t understand. I understand that they have lost their homes. Been there done that. I understand that they have to move, been there done that. I understand that they most likely have to go somewhere where they can’t have pets, been there – will not do that again. BUT why leave their pets behind? Why not find homes for them? Why not call a rescue? Why not post their needs on the web. The internet is a poweful tool. Surely these animals could have been saved in one way or another. I hope that karma comes back to bite these people who were so desperate to get out of this situation and so heartless that they could leave their animals to starve. Loyal animals who were supposed to be protected by their humans. There is no need for this.

A picture is worth a thousand words. Step it up people, make this world a better place. Give these animals the loving homes they deserve, not the suffering that they have found.

This Should Never Happen
